How do I have wedding pictures printed off the proof album?

The photographer we hired for our daughter’s wedding took months to get the wedding proof album to us. She has been absolutely impossible to get ahold of to order pictures. It has been over a year. All we have is the proof book. Is there anyway to have pictures printed off the proof book. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Call her and tell her that you need to order your photos. If she has an office that she works out of or you know her home address that she works out of, show up there. Demand that she order the prints that you want. If she gives you some ridiculous story or tells you that she’s too busy, contact a lawyer. Chances are that you paid a lot up front for her services. Try informing her that you plan to talk to a lawyer about this matter to see if her demeanor changes. Make it clear that you don’t want your money back, you want the photos.

Weddings only happen once (hopefully) and those photos are your daughters memories. They are photos that she will be showing her children someday and they are the photos that she and her husband will be looking through when they are in their 80′s remembering and appriciating just how special that day was.

Don’t be afraid to be a royal pain in the behind.

    Go with Tigr.

I recommend a registered demand letter setting a specific amount of time for you to get your photos and, if that doesn’t work, have an attorney write a demand letter explaining she is in breach of contract.

Claims like this are pretty much a slam dunk against a photographer when their performance is outside the common practice of an industry and this is way outside ANY practice in the industry.

I can’t think of any excuse beyond the death of the photographer or the destruction of the negatives/digital files due to a reason not involving negligence where you won’t get your pictures.

Collect any and all documentary evidence you have and organize it in case you have to engage a lawyer or decide to take it to small claims court. That’s the reason for a demand letter, to provide hard core proof. Phone records showing calls to the photographer are also good.

If all or any part of the contract is verbal, but your representation of the terms and conditions of the understanding are what would be accepted as normal practice, then a judge can and usually does decide in the plaintiff’s favor based upon the minimum such a contract would have established and specified.

You will not get anything of quality off the proofs. I’m sorry. Attempting to get something even reasonable through scanning and upsizing would be expensive.

I’m sorry that you had to run into someone like this. Very, very few of us act so irresponsibly.

I agree with the 2 first answers. Whatever you do, DON’T make prints from the proofs for several reasons. First of all, they’re smaller for a reason. Try blowing them up and the quality is going to be terrible. Secondly, those pictures are copyrighted and regardless your story, the photographer can have you penalized for copyright infringement.

I agree with the first three…and I can’t stress it strong enough…DON’T print any of them…you could be in big trouble, and the law would side with the photographer and the copyright laws…seeking legal advise is the very best suggestion. Blessings and good luck!
