New Ring for New Years – Kick Start Your 2009 Wedding Plans
So he popped the question…now what?
If you’re among the nearly one million brides-to-be who received an engagement ring over the holidays, it’s time to ring in the new year by scratching the first few items off your wedding day “to do” countdown. Kick start your 2009 wedding plans now!
Here are the first three items that you must cross off your wedding planning checklist before you can accomplish anything else.
Step 1: Determine Your Budget
Your budget will determine the type of wedding you can have – from how many guests you invite, to where and when you host your wedding, right down to the specific blooms in your bouquet, so you need to start here. Sit down with everyone who is going to contribute to the wedding-day piggy bank and discuss how to logically divide the tab and arrive at a total number.
Step 2: Find a Site and Set Your Date
Remember – many reception sites book over a year in advance, so you really can’t decide on a wedding date until you have officially booked your venue with a signed contract. Find as many reception sites that meet your budget, capacity and overall style quotient as you can. Use our wedding reception site search to find venues in your area, and narrow down your list. Then schedule appointments to tour each wedding venue and meet with the manager.
Step 3: Start the Guest List
You don’t need to have the list finalized just yet, but you’ll need an estimate from both sides of the family (and yourselves) right away to avert countless planning headaches down the road. Once you’ve talked with all financially contributing parties to determine your total wedding budget, you can estimate how many people you can afford to invite to the affair.
Now that you’ve tackled the first three steps, this complete weddings guide will walk you every step of the planning process, from setting the theme and style, to booking your vendors, to managing every detail.

Just got engaged. Need to figure out how soon I need to start planning the wedding and where to start?
My boyfriend and I just got engaged and have decided to get married early Summer 2009. Even though it’s still a couple of years away, I would like to start estimating the cost of the wedding, and checking out locations. How long should I wait before I start planning the wedding? My parents had a very small simple wedding, and I want a small, but nice wedding w/ our closest relatives and friends, which will end up being around 100-125 people.

Wedding Planning – Where Do I Start First
When planning your wedding it can sometimes be a chore to plan and to organize as to what should come first. It can also be confusing as to what steps in which direction I need to go when organizing events of my wedding day. Here you will find helpful wedding tips that you will surely find beneficial. The first thing you should do when starting your plans to put together a wedding is to set your budget, this is extremely important. Before you make any decisions you must first check your finances and decide how much you are willing and can spend on your wedding.
To me the next thing that should come to mind is choosing a wedding date, this may sound silly but believe it or not he can make a difference for instance, time of year and season will determine not only your budget but also friends and family who can attend. With setting a date and time of year for the wedding comes choosing a theme is going to be at beach theme, fall theme, some are winter? All these decisions are equally important.
Another important factor that goes along with your budget would be deciding on the size of your wedding party and guess that you plan to invite. If you decide to have a large wedding bridal party this can sometimes lead to big expense with gifts and rehearsal dinners, you get the idea. Also you want to be careful about who exactly you are going to invite. This will help keep the costs down.
Once you have decided on a theme the size of your bridal party reception guests and your budget now we can move forward. Some things may be easy when planning a wedding such as the Church where you plan to wed. Next a good idea would be for the bride and groom to go out and purchase wedding rings, follow closely by picking and booking your photographer, DJ and someone to film the video.
Where almost home! You will need to schedule and participate in a premarital counseling classes, I have done it myself and actually it’s quite fun! From there you will need to decide on what food and refreshments you will have at your wedding reception hall and of course along with that would be choosing your wedding favor souvenirs for your special guest who attended your wedding reception celebration.
More on the home stretch now! From there it actually gets quite easy. At this point the bride and groom will get fitted for their gown and tuxedo, followed thereafter by choosing a wedding cake. Once you have all this in order to last thing would be to pick out your wedding invitations and prepare them for mailing.
As you can clearly see that wedding planning does take time and extreme effort, but if you give yourself enough time and careful thought putting together a big event, as well as a memorable event like a big wedding things can go rather smoothly.

When to start planning the wedding?
I just got engaged a couple weeks ago. We have decided to wait two years to get married for various reasons. When should we start planning the wedding? I am sure there is nothing to do now because we are going to wait so long. I would just like to know when we should start doing everything. We are starting to look at venues now because we want to get married on new years eve. Anything else I need to start? Thanks!

How do I start planning a wedding?
I got engaged about 4-5 months ago, and I am planning to have the wedding sometime maybe in late winter/early spring of 2008. How do I start? What should I do first? What are some helpful hints? Should I start dropping off deposits for my vendors? Should I book the bride+groom hotel room? Should I schedule a cake tasting, bride dress fitting, or an appointment with my invitation printer? Should I meet up with my caterer to book my ballroom?
What should I do first/last? Please try to include everything, thanks so,so much!
